D.C.'s Potomac River Poop Problem: Cleaning Up the Largest Sewage Spill in US History

240-300 million gallons of raw sewage poured into the Potomac River just North of Washington, DC after a 54 mile 'poop pipe' collapsed on January 19th. The effort to contain the unprecedented spill and fix the problem have been a 24/7 nightmare for DC Water crews.
